Arbor Day 2023
Arbor Day 2023 was celebrated at Eppes Middle School on March 10th, 2023. The principal, Mrs. Harris, welcomed the teachers, students, members of ReLeaf, and several local officials to the school. Mayor PJ Connelly gave a Proclamation on the Importance of Trees, and the District Forrest Ranger, Robin Weber, spoke about Greenville being a Tree City USA.
All students at Eppes were invited to write essays on the “importance of trees” and the six essay winners were awarded Barnes and Noble gift certificates. Mr. Hunt McKinnon, President of ReLeaf, told the group that this was the 34th year of the National Arbor Day celebration.
After the awards were given out, the children and their teachers went outside to plant 6 Trident Maple trees on the lawn of Eppes school. A great time was had by all.
